New years resolutions

It is the wonderful time between christmas and the new year. The most peaceful week of the year. I have spent christmas with my parents on the coast. We have stayed mainly inside as the weather has been terrible.

Now I am looking forward to the new year. Each new year is like a fresh, new start full of possibilities. With a new year comes the new years resolution, or perhaps plans is a better word.

Here are some things  I want to do in 2014:

- keep blogging.....

- get a proper job and leave the one I have....

- keep up and improve my power walking....

- stop worrying about all sorts of stuff that never happens anyway...

- post more selfies on the blog and not feel so concious about it...

- become better at baking....

- become less scared of dogs....

- drink coffee in coffeshops more often...

- grow my hair longer, but not long.....

- travel more...

Cycles of seven??? or just down memory lane?

I am not a superstitious person, but I've always heard that there is a cycle of sevens. 7 days of the week, 7 chakras, 7 colours of the rainbow, all ages that adds up to sevens 7, 14, 21 are changing years in a pesons life.  I can't wait for the new year to arrive, and it is one of the sevens!! That is IF there is a flow to life that goes in sevens. I looked back seven years and realised that 2007 was one of the happiest years of my life.

In 2002 I had landed in a beautiful little village set among mountanins and fjords. In 2007 I was still there and I still could not stop photographing the beauty of the place.

The beautiful narrow streets in between old houses are like magic.
When I first arrived I remember thinking: how on earth can anyone live her?

In 2007 I was madly in love with this bloke.

We used to take roadtrips across the mountains and take photos of each other taking photos of each other

To enjoy the stunning views that even we, the most hardcore Norwegians, could not get enough of

Or we could stop at this viewpoint which was only half and hour from home. During the seven years (ooops, seven, again) I lived there, I used to go here  whenever I needed to find peace of mind. Always worked.

Or we could take a fjord cruise.

This is how excruciatingly happy I was.

All of the photos taken by me in 2007.

Ahhh, I wish things would come in sevens.

Breaking barriers...

This is me.

A "selfie".
(I read somewhere that "selfie" is Word of the year for 2013)

 I am breaking a barriere.

It is the first photo of myself that I post in this blog. It is quite a big issue for me. I don't know why I find it so difficult to post photos of myself, as "everybody" posts photos of themselves "everywhere" - if you see what I mean.
But now it is done.

The barriere is broken.

Angels

I've put up my Christmas decorations and I realised that most of what I have to decorate with are angels. I also realised that all of them have been given to me for gifts. I know of people who actually collect them and have lots more than I do. I suppose some of them are not just for Christmas but can be a decorating item all year round. I had a good time puuting them out and of photographing some of them after.

The blue light

The bad weather has passed for a day, and we where rewarded with a beautiful wintersday in Bergen. Cold and crisp, a bit of snow - beautiful. Acording to the forecast it is only going to last for a day, so better enjoy it. I went out in afternoon, and caught "the bluelight". The light we get when light fades and darkness comes. You need  a day like today and the deepest winter for it to happen.

December weather

Bad weather is not uncommon around here. December is usually a time for a lot of gales, rain and snow. This week we have had a few days of  this kind of weather. Bad weather can be facinating, but also quite scaring. Yesterday I was driving across a bridge in the gales. I could feel the bridge move. Minutes later the bridge was closed for several hours due to the conditions. Apart from that I 've spent most of the time indoors looking out on the conditions.

Taken from my livingroom window:

These are taken from my parents livingroom window. Flag pole is in the way, but anyway....

Advent

It is december - advent. The best time of the year. We are waiting for Christmas. It is time to put up all the christmaslights. As I have looked around I've seen that a lot people have put them up long before december 1. Personally I dislike what I have seen over the past years of starting Christmas earlier and earlier. Eventhough I understand that it is tempting to put up some extra lights at this darkest time of the year. I have also put up my Christmas lights now.
