April moments

In April we have celebrated two birthdays...
(I even managed to wrap one of the gifts in christmas wrappings.  I noticed just before I was going to the party and decided to just leave it that way. Don't think she minded..)

And we have celebrated easter....
I have been spring cleaning...

The spring flowers are here, and children want to pick them.

I have been power walking around my neighbourhood in Bergen....

My eight year old orchid is blooming again. Looks like it will get only three flowers this time and the stem is not very long anymore.

Garden flowers are blooming as well as field flowers and fruit trees.

And I....

..... had my last day working at this desk...

A spring weekend in the country

I have spent the weekend alone in the country. When I came out here on thursday afternoon I began to feel really restless and could not quite think about what to do all weekend. I have also been here a lot lately so I didn't have that needing-to-get-out-of-the-city feeling that I sometimes get.  Then I settled in to things and I have had a good weekend alone. The weather has been beautiful and it is getting lush and green and flowery everywhere.  The birds are singing all day long. Perhaps it is good to feel a bit bored sometimes? And perhaps it is good to be able to spend time alone, not everybody is.  -Restlessness is a sign that there is life in the body that wants to be lived, a friend of mine once said. Guess he is right!

Who can complain when you drink your morning coffee to this view?

We have celebrated easter. Easter is such a good time to be in the city. So quiet. It is as if the city takes a pause from its everyday huzzle and buzzle. But I have also spent some time in the country. We have had family visits, good walks, good food, good reads and knitting and good company.

14. April - Monday

It is the 14th of April.
It is monday.
It is the Easter week and holiday time.
It is a grey and windy morning in Bergen, cruise season is underway and coffee is a must. The above is the view from the balcony, but it was too cold to sit there and drink the coffee.
The city is fairly quiet today. Schools are closed and many people getting out of town. I find the city at easter time quite nice. I like this shift in tempo.

A good day to get out even if it is quite cold, grey and windy. We even had snow in the mountains.

This morning my eight year old orchid is getting ready to bloom again. I hoped it would bloom during the day, but it didn`t.

I have two knitting Projects on for the easter holiday. One is to finish my tunic knitted from top down. First time I have done that and I quite like it. Second project is a long term project in knitting a blanket of all my scrap yarn.

The sun even came out in the afternoon to shine on my easter chicken.

Looking back...

For the past five years I have had an old computer lying around. I was travelling a lot at the time and in November 2008 I bought a computer of the very small type that was easy to bring with me. It was so small that I could carry it in my handbag. I never really liked it because the screen and the keyboard was just to small. And of course, carrying it around in my handbag made it easy to break. Earlier this year I found it in a cupboard and I started to think about what to with it, when I had used it and what was actually on it. I broke it in June in 2009, so I only had it for about six months. I knew there where no important documents on it, but maybe a few photos. So I decided to try to get the photos out. I was surprised at the result. There where so many photos from so many situations. My life has changed so much since then. In many ways it is like looking into a differnt life.

We had plenty of snow that winter as opposed to the winter this year where had hardly any snow at all.

I was still walking along this fjord and taking photos of him whatever he was doing.

I had a busy job where I worked in several locations, and we where redcorating two of them. I remember the struggle and the excitement.

We went on holiday to Tuscany in April that year. We saw Florence, Siena, Lucca and beautiful Tuscan landscapes. And we went up the leaning Tower in Pisa. - Oh, Yeah, I was there once, I thought to myself when I saw the photos from Pisa.

In May that year I spent a week on a beach in Majorca......

.....and I went to a wedding where I had the above view from the hotel room.
Then I broke the computer..
So many memories from those six months. And so many changes since then. And I am perfectly OK with the changes that have taken place. Wonder what life will be like in five years from now and will I be happy With it?  Most of all I am really glad that I got to see all these photos again.

Spring definitley

It is April so it is definitley spring. The green leaves on the hedge I pass on my power walk is hard evidence. Spring has not been hard to spot this year. It has been a mild winter and nature has been ready to reveal its colours for a long time. We have also had a lot of sun lately which is good for both trees and people.

The days are getting longer and longer and edging it's way towards round-the clock daylight.  And then theres is a all the daffodils that are around at the moment. Easter lillies - one of my favourite  flowers.

And I have put my sunglasses on. That is a sure sign of spring. Untill a few years ago I never used to wear sunglasses. Then one springtime something happened to my eyes, I don't know what. I only know that sunglasses helps. I am lost without them at this time of year.
