Sunflower in September.....

In late April I planted sunflowerseeds. I've heard that it will take about three months before they bloom, so I thought late July - August I will have some nice sunflowers. But we got a cold and wet summer with not enough warmth and sunshine for my sunflowers. The stem grew quite tall and something resembling buds appeared, but it was nowhere near what it was supposed to be in July/August when I hoped for beautiful big sunflowers. When September came I regarded the whole project as a miss. Then on 21 September I got a sunflower. I tiny one, but still...
A week on, it is not very much bigger but still there. So now I am hoping to enjoy a beautiful autumn sunflower throughout October.
